We haven't been updating at all for like, a month because Catherine has been too busy living in Hong Kong and China and getting pictures like THESE and not having internet for ten days and all that crazy stuff.

Yeah, I totally lied about the whole not putting up self portaits thing.

My niece now has a pet tortoise. I have a soft spot for most reptiles, and I used to keep tortoises as pets when I was a kid, too.




Packing for a six week trip to Hong Kong isn't the easiest thing in the world. Note the two full sized suitcases (and my terribly messy bed).

Hey, it's 6 months until Christmas Eve Eve!

On the 20th, my sister held a Father's Day cookout at her house. My 10 year old nephew was enthralled by the backyard hammock, haha!


I happen to have been diagnosed with ear infections in both ears a week before I go on a sixteen hour flight. Luckily, that's how long it takes for an infection to clear up, yay!

Tying up the straggling ends of our immigration paperwork has been stressful and frustrating. But we managed to tie those ends up into a neat little package later!

I have a passion for vintage cameras (and this is the closest to a self portrait I'm ever going to get to posting on here. Except now that I say that I'm totally going to make a liar out of myself distantly in the future).

Glorious June

This past weekend was all about Festival in the Park in Roanoke. Roanoke is always good for various photo ops with its charming combination of old and modern, and I got a good shot of the older buildings downtown.

Only a small portion of my book collection. I buy books compulsively (and yes, I do reread most of them). Also, note my genuine German beer stein.

A maple baby! Maples are one of my favourite trees, which may or may not have anything to do with Canada.

Teeny tiny flowers in my backyard. Mom calls them weeds. I call them charming.

It's almost Monday, ew.

Blue delphinium in my sister's front yard. Her yard is beautiful, woodsy, and full of whimsy.

The Great Basin in Forest Park is wonderful for epic cosplay photos (characters are from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and are Simon and Rossiu respectively).

Just one pretty view from Mountain Pass Rd., a curvy road with beautiful scenery year-round between Blue Ridge and Troutville, Virginia. This is looking south toward the Roanoke Valley.

Two pairs of polymer clay earrings waiting for paint to dry. It was a hectic evening yesterday trying to get all nine pairs of earrings finished for Saturday's flea market sale. But they're done now!


As you can see, we're very lazy about changing the light bulbs in our ceiling fans. No lie, the right most light caught on fire once, at 2 AM in the morning when I was going to get a drink.
